Ah ok that makes sense on the 1 shot instead of 2. I think I'm getting mixed up with the knights charge where we didn't add pins because all the units died. Definitely thinking of equipping enchanted shield spell the next time I face the halflings

It is an interesting rule set. I like the routing mechanics which makes combats quite fluid on the table and makes supporting units useful for rallying. Definitely happy to play again. I've sorted out some LOTR army lists which should make some thematic games.

I like the fact that magic is not too powerful. Nor are monsters too powerful- enough hits will cause them to roll a 10 at some point- as we discovered with chariots

Might have to invest in a set of these rules as they seem quite popular, I have a few fantasy figures lying around

Trying out WOE with the kids. My eldest used Aura of Timidity on my Wizard and then basically scared him off the battle field after attacking him with a giant carrion worm

A quick summary of Elves vs lizardmen The Lizards were badly harassed by a giant eagle, which went around dropping rocks on them. The Elf knights bounced off some javelinmen- 3 10s rolled for armour saves out of 3..... The Elf hero killed the lizard Champion, and Elf Archery shot up most of the rest of the army, who hung about rather too long. The Wirards largely cancelled each other out, both also miscast- without disatrous results really. The Lizard Wizard was a bit incautious though and stuck his head up over the hill, receiving a volley of bowfire for his trouble. Saving rolls were pathetic, and he broke. (literally, he fell off the table!)
