As a little change we are doing a game set in Shanghai in in 1937. A scratch force of home Guard, Police , Sailors and regulars try to prevent a Nationalist force from capturing the last 2 bridges before the city. Mostly BoB figures with a few proxies. I'll post the briefings

We are at turn 4. The Shanghai Police Special Branch managed to destroy the road bridge with explosives, but the Nationalists have sent a suicide bomber to exact revenge on the Rolls Royce. Much depends on the first dice in turn 5..... Also on whether Duk Boi's matches are wet... Attachments:

Meanwhile, at the footbridge the forces line up, supported by an L3 on the Chinese side, and a Carden Lloyd MG carrier on the International side. A unit of Big Sword men lurk menacingly at the top of the screen. Attachments:

Thanks Alan The vital bridge at the end The final result was a draw- the Chinese held one bridge, and had killed 2 British units (MMG and a unit of regulars), the British had blown one bridge and killed 3 units (mortar, Duk Boi and a truck) The British commander managed to plant the second crate of explosives, but was interrupted by the Big Sword men destroying the regulars that was protecting him. The fuse then failed...... It's visible in the photo. If I were to run this again, I would make the following changes:- 1. less British transport- - the British had 15 dice to the Chinese 11, despite the Chinese having a points advantage. 2. either an armoured car, or the Carden Lloyd, not both. 3. alternatively, more suicide bombers, which are fun It did work as a game though. A couple of incidents stand out- the first was Duk Boi wading the river forcing the Rolls Royce to reverse hurriedly. And then unsportingly mowing him down. I bought him as inexperienced, oddly the army list allows regular and veteran suicide bombers! A second one was cam and Ken forgetting that they had 2 boxes of explosives.....

These are the new Warlord Late War British/Canadian figures. They match the older ones well, but are easier to build , and have better variety of headgear. On the downside , the glue doesn't seem to stick the plastic as well.... These chaps are from 15th Scottish Division.
