In terms on insurance, my insurance expert (an affiliate of this club), thinks that the church are incorrect. However, in order to put ourselves on a sounder footing, I will draft a simple constitution, so that we are a formal Club. This was a stumbling block in the past to obtaining lottery funding etc. We can discuss more on Sunday

Since it looks like we will formally have to be a club, I have drafted a constitution for discussion. This may enable us to apply for grants etc. Club Constitution.docx (15.6 KB) We have always avoided this in the past, however it's looking like we may have to take out insurance Discuss on Sunday Don

Sounds like a plan Don. Its no big deal, just a document that officially constitutes the club as a group. We will need nominations for each of the three offices and any additional committee members. Might I suggest that any nominations be sent by email either to myself or Donald, by Sunday, so we can get the ball rolling on this and get back to killing small figures.
I should say, that we will be required to hold monthly meetings of the committee (which can be done digitally), so anyone nominated will need to be willing to participate in those meetings. The meetings themselves are a formality and will be minuted by the secretary. I imagine, as we are quite a small club, that there won't be much to discuss at these, so they won't take long. These could even be done one Sunday afternoon, for 10/15 mins, or, they can be done digitally i.e. MS Teams.

Got to ask, wasn't there last Sunday, what do we need insurance for, the church yes but does that mean all clubs that use the hall will need to get insurance?? It sounds a bit dodgy to be honest.

Exactly, Bob. I checked with Stevie Langan, who is CEO of Hiscox Insurance , and ought to know. He reckoned the church have bought really cheap insurance. The whole thing smells funny, although that could be the basement.... They are getting repairs done in the basement, which is why we have to move stuff up to the hall. We can chew this over some more on Sunday- there is no harm in having a constitution etc, and there might be benefits if we have to move.

Guys,
I wasn't at Don's on Wednesday, so don't have the keys. I won't be opening at 11, just incase any of you were considering coming that early.

Thanks to everyone for today's effort!
We now have an official Club constitution, which hopefully will allow us to develop and maybe improve funding. The "Comittee" agreed the following:-
Chair- Young Dave Secretary- Don Treasurer- Brian
We had a chat with the new Minister, which was very positive- she certainly made it clear that we are very welcome (more so than the slimmers!). No mention of insurance.....

We also managed to evacuate the cellar, thankfully most of the stuff was salvageable. There was less down there than we imagined.

Carronade 25th September, and next year in May
Kenny Thompson of the Falkirk Club has been on- I've accepted invites for both events. We are looking at the Pacific for September (because we have the stuff!) and Op Sealion for May

Do we have enough Japanese for that?

We should have enough Japanese for the 25th. We Have plenty of Japansese tanks. I currently have a full platoon of IJA ready. I'm working on the second. I'm also printing some support weapons etc.
